Thinking and Learning Time Week of September 10

Each day your learners participate in "Thinking and Learning Time". This is the part of our day in which Fawn Friends are engaged in rich, cross-curricular, literacy activities! Each day these thinkers work at a different table and by the end of the week they will have had the opportunity to do them all!
Take a look at what your learners did this past week during "Thinking and Learning Time"!

Above you see learners engaged in word study. The beginning of the year begins with letter exploration. The best part of these centers is that each child is able to work at his/her level. Some were noticing and exploring letters, others organized letters in A,B,C order, some built their names, others built words.

Above you see students engaged in fine motor work. This table is the writing table. At the beginning of the year our learners are engaged in activities to build hand and finger strength as well as hand/eye coordination.

Above you see the science table. This week scientists practiced using gentle hands to explore the changes that occur when water is carefully brushed onto rocks and shells. As the year progresses your learner will have the wonderful opportunity to engage in science work while strengthening reading and writing skills as well.

At the art table Fawn Friends used their best effort to color the American Flag correctly. They worked slowly and carefully while doing this. I was so impressed with their observation and recording at this table.

Show your child these pictures and see what he/she is able to tell you about them!
